At Bassett Maple Co., we take pride in building and shipping high-quality, American-made maple syrup equipment quickly and carefully. The information below explains our shipping timelines, carrier methods, freight procedures, and what to expect when your order ships.
Order Processing & Lead Times
- In-stock orders typically ship within 1–2 business days after payment is received.
- Made-to-order or lead-time items include an estimated ship window shown on the product page or order confirmation.
- Lead times are estimates only. We work as hard as possible to ship before the stated time whenever we can.
- During peak maple season, production and carrier volumes may cause slight delays.
- If an item in your order is out of stock or delayed, we’ll notify you by email with updated shipping information.
Shipping Methods & Carriers
- Most small and medium-size products ship via UPS or USPS.
- PO boxes are acceptable for small USPS shipments only.
- Large items (such as evaporators or firebrick kits) ship via freight (LTL) on a pallet.
- Once your order ships, you’ll receive a confirmation email with tracking information. Freight shipments include a PRO number and carrier link.
Freight Shipments (LTL)
- Freight shipments require a signature upon delivery.
- You’ll receive an email once your pallet is ready to ship, including tracking details and delivery instructions.
- Freight options include:
- Residential + Liftgate: Driver lowers pallet to ground.
- Residential, Customer Unload: Lower cost if you can unload by hand or with equipment.
- Commercial Address (Dock/Forklift): Lowest-cost option if available.
- Local Pickup: Save on freight and pick up from our Grand Haven, MI shop.
- Pro Tip: Enter a commercial address that accepts semi-truck deliveries (e.g., your workplace or local hardware store) to reduce freight cost.
Free Shipping Policy
- Our 24x18" Evaporator, pans, smaller items, and accessories qualify for free parcel shipping (UPS/USPS).
- Freight shipments (such as our large 2x3 and 2x4' evaporators and firebrick kits) are excluded from free shipping promotions unless specifically stated.
- When a freight and parcel item are purchased together, we may combine them on the same pallet if possible.
Expedited Shipping
We do not offer expedited shipping at checkout. However, if you need an order urgently, please reach out to us at charlie@bassettmapleco.com before or immediately after placing your order. We’ll check availability and provide a quote for possible expedited options.
Shipping Areas
- We currently ship within the continental United States (lower 48).
- We do not ship to Hawaii or Alaska.
- Canadian customers: Please contact us at charlie@bassettmapleco.com for a custom shipping quote before placing your order. We’re happy to help coordinate cross-border shipping.
Delivery Inspection & Damage Claims
- Please inspect your shipment immediately upon delivery.
- For freight deliveries:
- Note any visible damage or missing items on the bill of lading before signing.
- Take clear photos of the pallet and packaging.
- If concealed damage is discovered after delivery, contact us within 48 hours with photos at charlie@bassettmapleco.com or (231) 375-7197.
- We’ll work quickly to assist with replacements or carrier claims.
Address Changes & Missed Deliveries
- Once shipped, address changes or re-routes may incur carrier fees.
- Missed freight appointments may result in redelivery or storage charges from the carrier.
- Refused shipments that aren’t due to shipping damage will be treated as returns under our Refund & Return Policy.
Risk of Loss & Title
Ownership and responsibility for your order transfer to you once it’s handed to the shipping carrier (parcel or freight). Please use your tracking link to ensure safe, timely delivery.
