5/16” Black Tap
Description:
- New 5/16" Taps/Spouts/Spiles
- Tough durable nylon construction
- Can be reused year after year
- Tree heals 30-35% faster than with older 7/16" hole spouts.
- Can be sterilized by boiling or steam up to 250 F
-
Barbed tap holds the hose aggressively, eliminating leaks
Installation:
First, drill a 5/16" hole 1" into the tree about 36" off the ground. Next, insert the spile and gently tap it into the tree with a hammer (do not pound the spile into the tree, as this may cause the wood to split). DO NOT DRIVE THIS SPOUT ALL THE WAY INTO THE TREE. During tapping the spout will seal tightly. The hammer will bounce back off the spout to a "thud" sound signaling the spile is installed properly about 1/2' into the tree. If the sap is flowing, you should immediately see sap dripping from the spile.
